"SEA" you soon!

Aloha~

I must love this sketch! ๐Ÿ˜„This is my 3rd card for the challenge! Again, I used it sideways. I don't think I ever made three cards for a challenge, esp. in August, which happened to be the busiest month for my card making! Anyways, so, not only I love the sketch but also love this NND's paper pad! As I mentioned before, I was surprised to see many more NND stamp supplies than I ever thought I had! lol ๐Ÿ˜…Here is my card.

Inky Paws Challenge: Inky Paws Challenge #243 Week 4

So, actually I had the recipient in mind when I decided to make another card for the challenge. My BFF from college years which means, like more than 40 years(!) are coming to Hawaii with her husband of 29 1/2 years next month! She's been here in 70s' with her family but it's the 1st time ever for her husband! So, this is the inside of the card.

I love the pun! ๐Ÿ˜„The "Aloha" stamp & Hawaii Nei stamp are from the local stamp company.

Finally I WILL be able to start making "Halloween" cards. lol I got myself some Halloween stamps and dies, and I've been itching to use them! lol How about you?

Thank you for stopping by my blog today. Hope you are having a great week! Love, Eve

Christmas Card #6

Aloha~

This isn't a "normal type" of Christmas card but since it is for my godmother who had a port visit (Honolulu) recently, I decided to make a card like this. She & her husband had a wonderful time, and although it was so short (only for lunch with me), we had a great time! They flew from east coast, had a couple of days in LA, and 5 days on the ship to Hawaii.

Inside, I stamped "Mele Kalikimaka" (Merry Christmas in Hawaiian language.)

I can't believe 2024 is almost over... Some places have been snowed in but here in Honolulu, I've been feeling the hottest December... last Saturday, I sweat a lot, running errands, and had to take a shower twice!

Mahalo for stopping by my blog in your busy schedule today! Mele Kalikimaka! Love, Eve

Happy Birthday! Let's "seal-abrate"! 2 cards!

Two birthdays are coming up.

Last month and earlier this month, 2 monk seal pups were spotted, in different beaches. I wanted to use this special kit from Queen and co. since I purchased it a couple of months ago. So, here are my cards. Before I made these cards, Queen and co. had a live demo on FB. She made a "Hawaiian" vibe birthday card. It gave me the inspiration for a card. She placed tiny flowers as lei around the neck, and on the whole card. She told me that she made this card for her sister who just went back from Hawaii, for her birthday. As me being a "local", I see people often wear lei around the head also. I found these little plastic flowers inside of two different packets of "sequins", so I attached those by glue. Designed papers are all from that kit, except the solid color ones. I wanted to add "bubbles" and found these in my stash.

Here is my 2nd card. I used the same kit. Most are from the kit but the "rocks" and sentiment tag are from MFT. I also found the designed paper from my paper stash, for these rocks.

I'm not so fond of making "interactive" cards, except "shaker cards"! I LOVE making them! And Queen and co. brings the kit with those shaker cards elements with the theme! I can also buy "refills" for anything but I can use all those elements (stamps and dies) to just make a regular card even I run out of the "shaker" elements. I love that!

Thank you for stopping by my blog today. Hope you've started the last week of August great! Love, Eve

"Purr-maid"!!

Updates : This was chosen by a Newton's Nook Design's designer as her fav. ❤
http://www.inkypawschallenge.com/2018/08/inky-paws-challenge-77-winners.html

I had to have this stamp set cuz it cracks me up!๐Ÿ˜† I love cats and not so much for the mermaid but "Purr-maid" cracks me up every time I say the word! LOL I plan to send this card to my friend who loves cats as much I do. I bet she would laugh as soon as she opens the envelope! The newest stamp set I got and had to play with it. Inky Paws challenge is the sketch challenge. I also had to  use their (Newton's Nook Design) new tropical fish stencil.
It's hard to capture on the photo but I used LF background paper, and colored in the stencil, with 3 colors of distress ink. I made that "wave", cutting from the scrap paper I made, using alcohol inks YEARS ago. I used wink of stella on shell top (bra), and mermaid scales & fins. I stamped two kinds of bubbles from NND's another set, on the card base, and used perfect pearls to give that shimmer look. That's why on the right top corner shows that color (but all of the stamped bubbles images were dusted with perfect pearls but the camera doesn't pick the color up...), and found a glittered shell embellishment in my stash.

Thank you for stopping by my blog today. Hope y'all have a nice week!

Gorgeous day & evening, Guam, USA! :)

Last Friday was Gorgeous here, desite of Friday the 13th! ;-) Yesterday, we had a Gorgeous sunset. Most of you are not familiar with this island I am at now, so I thought I would share the pictures & youtube short video clips. I took a day time photo & video of Agana bay from the patio of Cafe where I had an Iced coffee :-) The sunset one was taken from the patio of Beach Bar & Grill at Gun Beach, and that's why it's kind of noisy, in the background. There was a live band, and many people were there, behind me.
Thank you for "Visiting" Guam today! Hope you all had a great weekend! :-)

Tilda is having "Fun in the Sun!"

I luv summer. I luv beach, white sand, sunshine, blue sky, ocean breeze... I'm definitely a 80Fs girl, all year around! The temp. never gets lower than 74F (the lowest, one day in January in the past!) in Guam. Hawaii was a bit cooler. I remember I wore a pair of jeans to go out at night in January & february. One morning, after my graveyard shift, the temp. dropped to 58F, and I was shocked, and it was cold, taking a bus home, early in the morning... . I can make Summer cards all year long! lol! I only wear jeans to go to see the movies & doctor's office in Guam, all year around! Anyways, this is my card for "summer" challenge blogs; the Official Magnolia Inspiration challenge "Summer", All that scraps challenge "Magnolia challenge Summer Time", Stamptacular Sunday Challenge "Fun in the Summer", and Papertake weekly challenge "Here comes the sun"!! I wanted to color this image and make a card with it in the summer, and summer is finally, officially here, so I decided to use this image, with the float image. I used sakura clear glaze pen over the float to give the Shiney vinyl look. I used sakura clearstar gel pen for her wings. I used the scrap paper from my scrapbook on Guam, the ocean & the waves and used the nesties. I used dimentional glue foam for this main image to give a bit of dimention. I used the punch to make flip flops. The sentiment, sun & seagulls are from Inkadinkado. Others are all left over stickers from my scrapbook on Guam; seashells, plumeria flowers, and bubbles. I added 2 gems in the end. Oh "the sand" paper is also from the left over from the same scrapbook :-) I tored it using my hand, to make the natural line for the sandy beach. ... oh how I miss the beach & ocean breeze!! Hope this card made you feel like you were on the beach, too, feeling the ocean breeze... Thank you for stopping by my blog today!!

Tilda~Blue~My Fav.things...birthday card

I received another box from Guam, more of my stamp collection :-) This porthole stamp is one of those stamps which JUST arrived here :-) I'd been wanting to make a Birthday card for Audrey B. from Magnolia group I belong to, cuz she made me a BEAUTIFUL Japanese Tilda card for my birthday, and her birthday is coming. I also wanted to make a card for Magnolia Stamp Lovers' "Blues" challenge. I had another image, already colored in blue but after receiving this porthole stamp a couple of days ago, I changed my mind, and used my new addition, MINI Tilda Mermaid stamp. Good thing I did, cuz I just learned that at Just Magnolia blog, the latest challenge is "my fav.things", and One of my Fav. things is anything to do with the Beach/Ocean!! Esp. now, it's sooo tooo coooold here, and I miss my islands lives very much...when I'm making beach/summer cards, I'm very happy! :-) About my card...on the front, I attached stamped image of porthole with 3D pop up glue dots, after I used nesties to cut out the circle from the center of this stamped image, and other layers. I also cut the transparent sheet to make a "window", but when I took a pic. of inside of the card, because of this "window", you can see the reflection of my camera...lol... Inside of the card, I stamped Mermaid tilda, colored with watercolor pencils and glitter. For water bubbles, I used plastic stickers & glossy accent. I put some space between tilda and sea shells, to write the message to Audrey.

Being Published back in 2004! Old cards! :-)

today, one of my yahoo club friend asked whether anybody has ever been published in the magazines. I had 3 cards in total, being published, but oh boy, those cards are rather simple compared with the cards in recent years! For the card with ship, i even got a phone call for the interview, like where i live, how long i've been stamping, where i get the inspiration from, etc. There was the interview details in the magazine beside the card. For the second card with fish ("under the sea" theme), i got the e-mail of "interview" (Q&A), and also some introduction about me, but shorter, and the 3rd card with the cat was published just in the READER's submissions page, without any comments, only my name. (NOT the shaker card one). Back then, lots of TECHNIQUES were introduced, and for the first card & the 3rd cards, i used Posh impressions' rainbow sponging. For the 2nd card, i used polished stone technique. I was living in Guam (US territory), the tropical island, tourist destination & the land of US Navy, all three cards were made from the inspiration, just me living there. no, cats don't fly there!! LOL but in rainy season, we get squalls every day, and we can see rainbows so often!! The colors of the ocean sometimes becomes the one with the polished stone technique. Water is clear & beautiful colored fish are all around! And the ship... not only Cruise ship sometimes stop by there but BIG NAVY ships stop by also. Anyways, i was inspired by the nature & life all around me, living in Guam :-), and that's how i answered to those interviews :-) They were all published in Scrap & Stamp Art Magazines by Scott Publications. I was getting excited but then the life took a turn to bad... and i had to stop stamping...

The Play Date Cafe Challenge - PDCC #27

... this is Guam...

When i saw these colors of this week's challenge, it reminded me of Guam right away... Guam is a tropical paradise & US territory in the Pacific. The island is just gorgeous!! These 3 color combination reminds me of White Sand, blue sky, and blue/emerald green (or this case, light minty green) ocean. Also i remembered i bought this ribbon, the color of blue & green, wanting to use for Ocean/beach themed cards, so here they are! And i didn't use any other colors than those 3 colors !! :-) A bit of explanation on the cards here. I used Vellum on the front, and on underneath CS, i did embossing. And that's why it's a bit fuzzy looking, but toned the white embossing down, to make the color, more "off white".

I luv "color theme challenges" but unfortunately my old digital camera doesn't show the actual colors very well...:-( someday, hopefully i'll be able to buy a better camera... also, i realized these CHALLENGE becomes a big CHALLENGE since i don't have all my stamping supplies here... but i'll do my best :-)
