It's been 10 months since I blogged the last...

yes, lots have happened, again, in last 10 months. Not so much Good News to share but in difficult times, I still found several "highlights" which I want to share, before uploading my new cards in next blog post.
The first stop was Tokyo, Japan, in June, to visit my mother. I hadn't been there for 8 years, even Guam is much closer than US mainland. I had a lunch with one of my old friends from college at Wolfgang Puck café restaurant. I hadn't seen her for over 10 years.... even we've kept in touch. The 2nd stop was Denver, CO, via Vancouver, Canada. I didn't choose Air Canada but my Mileage gave me the choice of different itineraries, and the one I chose was to fly by Air Canada between Tokyo to Vancouver. This was my first time to fly by Air Canada, and I loved it! :) I really wished I had more time to EXPLORE in Vancouver in Canada but didn't... then, to Denver, CO. I was there for 3 months. Unfortunately "living situation" became a nightmare, and I had to leave, but here are some highlights from Denver.

This is Coor's brewery. I'm not a beer drinker but if I drink, I drink Coor's light and until only 2 weeks before my departure, I didn't know it was only 15 mins. drive from where I was going to stay. I had the most fresh Coor's light at brewery! :)

I'm not a Broncos fan but luv to watch football game. My most fav. NFL player, Wes Welker (WR) from Patriots moved to Denver from this summer, so since I was in Denver, I decided to visit their summer camp to watch Wes Welker, in person! It was AWESOME!!

Then one day, I saw the article on the Garden of Gods online. So, I drove an hour to get there. It was beautiful! I wish I could've stayed there for a couple of nights, to just relax...

As a stamper, this was a dream come true :)  Stamps by Judith needed someone to help their booth at Scrapbook Expo in September, and I got the job, for two full days! Altho I didn't have any time to visit other booths, I was surrounded by stamps & stampers/scrapbookers, and that was awesome! I got some new friends too :)



 

Then, the whole month of September, every weekend, I spent Great time with my fellow college alumni members in Denver, to watch our football games! That was awesome too!! I went to college in east coast. Never imagined that there were many alumni members in Denver & Colorado. I'm glad I found them, and could spend some time with them! :) Now I miss that group...

 

 

 

The last but not the least is the earlier service at this church. Their 11o'clock service is traditional but I luved their casual service, starting at 9. I really enjoyed the early service in this church :)

 

Then I flew to Richmond, Va, kinda 2nd home to me, visiting my godmother, her family, and my best friend & her daughter. It was very tiring (emotionally & physically, both!) but I'm glad I found several things which I could enjoy. :)

  

Now I'm back in a tropical island... tomorrow, I plan to post Three Sympathy cards I made. ... Unfortunately I had to make "Sympathy" cards right after I came back to Guam, rather than "Thank You" cards I wanted to make for a couple of people...

Happy Birthday! ~ 9 months delayed post...lol :-)

This is the card I made for my godmother for her birthday. I used this week's Clean & Simple Sketch. When I met her during my high school years, she collected things with Strawberries, because her dining room's wallpaper was full of strawberries. ....it's a very Long Time ago...I hadn't used this strawberry stamp for a long time, and decided to Ink it again! :-) It's an old Posh Impressions. I heat embossed, and paper pieced. I used nestabilities label for the border. The sentiment is TPC Studio clear stamp.

Happy New Year! 2013 is here! :-) 4 cards to show! :-)

well, as you all noticed that my blog went to HYBERNATION since... April?? Lots had happened, bad & good & ok... but one thing I can say here is that I don't get enough time for card making any more because of my job. It got even worse lately, but I managed to finish one hanukkah card and three Christmas cards in December. yeah!:-) 

I used Lawn Fawn Hanukkah set stamps and a little star stamp from their different set of stamps. I stamped with Memento dye ink, cut those dreidels and attached with foam adhesive, to give a bit of dimention, and hung them with silver strings. I used stickles for the candle lights, and used brilliance ink for little stars in the background. I distressed the edge lightly. I also used the gel pen inside of those four punched out stars. Insideof the card, I stamped the Star of David in the middle on the top  and punched out four little stars, to match the front.

For this Gingerbreadman card, I used my OLDEST sizzix die & the ORIGINAL sizzix die cut mashine. yes, I have it here in Guam, my First die cut mashine, although I hardly used it back then. I'd never imagined that Personal die cutting mashines become so popular years later! :-) Anyways, I used "Reverse" die cut out, and attached the craft color top on the brown card front. I used tiny round stickers on his eyes, to give a bit of dimention & shine. I used the ribbon for "white icing", and white pen for his mouth. I used DCWV's christmas paper inside of the card. I also used "zigzag" scissors to cut the red paper to give more decoration to the inside of the card. This was meant to send to one of my dear HM friend so I colored the house mouse stamp in watercolor pencils, cut it out, and adhered it. Then I found this sentiment from the stash of images I had... maybe 9 years ago?? but thought perfect with this house mouse stamp :-)

This Christmas card is for another HM friend. I found this image again, from my stash from many years ago, but found this hero arts christmas sentiment, to be the perfect match, and used it :-) Don't you get excited when "perfect matching" just happen while you are making cards?? It does to me! hahaha I used markers to color the image, cuz this image was stamped on glossy paper, and marker worked well. Although you can't see it, the candle is colored by clear gel pen to give the shiny look, and the yellow stickle to the lights.

The last Christmas card is for my mother who luvs "Tropical island", so I used the stamp of ornament with Plumeria inside for the focal point of the card. I stamped with brilliance ink on speckled cs, and colored it with markers, cut it out, and attached with the foam adhesive to give a bit of dimention. I stamped banana leaf (from Vivid Jungle) randomly with dye ink on both yellow & green card stock. I used Lawn Fawn Star stamps randomly in brilliance ink, used pearl pens for those random dots.

Happy 50th anniversary!

How impressive to have 50th wedding anniversary!! Even my father passed away before they hit 50th anniversary!... When I read my house mouse online friend's post in house mouse yahoo group I belong to, back in February, I wanted to make a card for them :) I wanted to make a card a bit fancy for celebrating 50th anniversary, but since I'm mailing this to Canada from USA (BUT, long way from here, Guam USA), I didn't want to send anything too thick or too fragile. I decided to make a FANCY front, and used Glitter lace background technique (ok, I'm not sure how it's called, really, but learned it somewhere a while back...). The background LACE paper I MADE is the one I used that technique. So, it's not the real LACE I layered on the card stock. I used similar design paper from MS holiday/valentine's day paper stack for layering the main image & the sentiment. I used glitter glue (yellow) on sunflower petals, randomly, but it's a little hard to see. White little punched out hearts on the right corner & layering paper underneath of glittered lace background paper has also shimmer in them but it's hard to see it on the picture...but very similar simmer to that white ribbon and that's the reason I chose that ribbon, to match. The sentiment stamp is old Holly Pond Hill collection. The number "50" is from alphabet set of Lawn Fawn. Surprisingly, the font MATCHED with the Happy Anniversary Stamp! And the size is also perfect that "50" being a bit larger! How exciting! lol! I wrote a little "th" by the number "50". :-) I used pearl pen to make "her" pearl necklace :-) Other pearls are store bought; white & red, both. I placed a little heart gem inside of the number "0". Yes, as you noticed, I FINALLY got my C-plate in the mail!! yeah! :-) It's so nice to "Cuttlebug" again! lol :-)

another "miss you" card from Guam to PA! :-)

"he", who hardly understands arts said the last card (Guam to PA!) was awesome. lol! Hope "he" will think so again, with this card. ;-) I enjoyed making this card. First I wanted to use that sentiment with the paper plane stamp (both in the same set from Lawn Fawn). I also wanted to use chevron pattern, which is also Lawn Fawn. The beach scene is Guam's Original stamp company's. I colored  it using markers and this shows Guam (USA) where I am now. The right scene shows western PA where "he" is now, and western PA is in the mountains.  I used the inkadinkado tree stamp, colored the stamp with markers. I colored the "ground/mountain" with distress ink, cutting the shape of the land, and masked & colored using ink applicator. I paper pieced the paper plane with the same paper I used for background. I stamped the chevron pattern and trimmed it. I used fiskar's punch to punch out the clouds from the card stock I stamped Hero Arts Envelope pattern in lighter ink and inked around the edge of clouds to give a bit more definition after punching those out. The end of the sentiment "...", I used a dot of explamation mark from Lawn Fawn alphabet set :-) SUN is old CTMH. I luv this sun, and almost always use it when "the sun" is needed! :-) I'm submitting this card to Lawnscaping challenge, "Stamp a scene".

Gorgeous day & evening, Guam, USA! :)

Last Friday was Gorgeous here, desite of Friday the 13th! ;-) Yesterday, we had a Gorgeous sunset. Most of you are not familiar with this island I am at now, so I thought I would share the pictures & youtube short video clips. I took a day time photo & video of Agana bay from the patio of Cafe where I had an Iced coffee :-) The sunset one was taken from the patio of Beach Bar & Grill at Gun Beach, and that's why it's kind of noisy, in the background. There was a live band, and many people were there, behind me.

Here is my card.

To make this card, I used 4 Lawn Fawn Stamp sets. I changed the stamp image of birdbath to a little fountain, and used paper plane TRAIL stamp to make the water coming out from the of the bottom. :-) I used sakura gel pen over the water. I also made a new kind of trees, using a big tree stamp with 3 layers of leaves to 6 layers (and embossed with swiss dots embossing folder), and a chopped trunk/log stamp to make trunks of the trees. Except the watering can & tulips, everything is paper pieced. I did sponging on the background; sky & ground. I used hero arts envelope pattern stamp, to use fiskar's cloud punch (small) and used hero arts bigger cloud stamp, trimmed it, and stamped an old CTMH's sentiment. At last, the fox is smelling the tulips! :-) "Spring" reminds me of many birds, and that's why I made this card :-)
