Happy Birthday #6

I believe that this will be the last birthday card for August...😅 

I often get more "supplies" when it comes to summer and ocean theme... I love the background deep sea stencil from Waffle Flower. So, in Hawaii, "Hawaiian Monk Seals" are loved by locals and officially protected. It is illegal to kill, capture or harass them. This card is for one of my former bosses who is from Southern Cal but has been living here for more than 10 years. When I saw the new release from Waffle Flower a couple of months ago, I had to have it, planning the card for her. 

The sentiment is from Lawn Fawn and printed sentiment strip is from Waffle Flower. I added a some "water bubbles" from Hero Arts. Hope she will like it! 🦭

Well, MOKE left without much damages on the state of Hawaii but the island of Hawaii continues to suffer from LALA... there are two more in the Pacific, coming this way... while the severe weather still continues across US and the world... Please stay safe! Love, Eve

Well, another birthday card! Busy month for the birthdays! 

I made this card for a dog lover, and I found this stamp which had a little puppy! I'm a cat lover, so, I don't have any problem with the cards to cat lover, but not dogs, although, I like them, too. Especially, in Honolulu, so many locals have small to medium size dogs. The stamp is from Lawn Fawn. I used even another stamp sets to get cup cakes, smaller speech bubble, etc.except the tiny cups from Miss Ink stamps.

A week ago, Hurricane Lala hit Hawaii islands. I underestimated the effect of Lala. ... this island had Kona low effect back in March. That brought a lot of rain but this one, lots of wind... severe weather everywhere. Mahalo for stopping by my blog. Please stay safe wherever you are. Love, Eve

Happy Birthday #4

Apparently, there are many who are born in summer. 😀 Usually I don't send this "many" "handmade" cards in summer because I'm usually busy but the ideas have been popping up in my head and I keep making, with less time. 👍

I love this stencil, I mean, the background from Pretty Pink Posh, but had never had a chance to use it. I'm happy when I get to use something I bought a while ago! And of course, the strawberry short cake from Waffle Flowers! And, the darkest color of blue is called Capri from Concord & 9th. I'm in love with this color.😍 I bought the 2026 assorted color collection (card stock), and this is one from that package. 

As most of you know, Hawaii had a Hurricane LALA and Honolulu lost power for several hours to four days? ... severe weather everywhere... please stay safe! Thank you for stopping by my blog today. Love, Eve

Happy Birthday #3

Summer is busy with my personal stuff but also there are many birthdays.🎂

The recipient lost her beloved kitty last year and in June, she adopted another kitty. I tried to add "her" on this birthday card. 😊I enjoy making "customized" cards as much as I can, even if they are just card making people I "met"online. But, you will never know if we meet in person someday! In fact, I met three people in card making groups in the past! 

I used images from My favorite things, Waffle Flowers, Paper Trey Ink and the sentiment from Lawn Fawn. This is probably the first time I've been using the back side of designer's papers from one paper pad many more than the front ones which I loved and purchased! Funny, huh?!

Coffee & "summerween" collab.!

My coffee swap card for August! I'd been wanting to make "SUMMERWEEN" card. This is my first ever (in my whole life! and 35+ years of card making life!) "Summerween" card. In fact, I'd been seeing the coffee mugs in dies and stamp sets since last fall and I got an idea. No, I don't own this die which I used for this card. I "improvised". We, the old card makers used to "improvise" A LOT because there were not many products available back then. But I enjoyed coming up with ideas and shared those with other card makers, in "snail mails" and some via emails, like in the Yahoo groups, remember those?? Years before Facebook! Now, you CAN BUY almost everything... kinda lost fun for the creativity but the businesses have to thrive so I understand. Things EVOLVE over the time. 

The pumpkin & ghost dies are from Spellbinders. I went through all my dies with "handles", for this size and shape of pumpkin and found one from my MFT collection. I attached the handle. It's not perfect, but it's pretty good, don't you think? The background "sandy" beach and waves are from Honey Bee Stamps. I also used the "sandy" stamps on the kraft card stock before die cutting/imprinting. The top sentiment is from NND, used the die cut after stamping. The bottom sentiment in gold was with a little work. See, this was my first ever SUMMERWEEN (collaboration) card and didn't have the sentiment, so, I went to my sticker book and found this cursive alphabet stickers, so, I used them, trying to lining up as much as possible. I'm glad it worked well, with that particular color and thin font. The shell dies are from both IO and HA. 

Inside, I stamped the sentiment and the ghost cup from NND. I really like how I did to my first ever "summerween" coffee card! 😊For next year, though, I plan to buy stamp set which has "(happy) summerween" sentiment, on this year's Black Friday sale. 🤞

I'm content with "Summerween" cuz I love summer and Halloween but usually I couldn't combine those, for many years but thanks to the industry(!!) they came up with the idea from most liking Christmas in July idea!

Happy Birthday #2 in August

Have you ever order directly from Honey Bee Stamps? I received this design printed on the white card stock, in the package as a freebie. They do that, mostly, different designs. This one, as you can see, looked right for one of the birthday cards I was going to make. 

I used watercolor pencils to color the image. I fussy cut the image and attached on two different designer's papers. I stamped the sentiment from Waffle Flowers. I used the sentiment strip on the bottom, from Simon Says Stamps. Oh, the steam are from Concord & 9th. 

Inside, I stamped My Favorite Stamps sentiment and attached the stenciled strawberry shortcake from Waffle Flowers.

I made this card, remembering the sender for June card to me loved Hawaii vacation and mentioned it again in her card. I also received a paper pad of Hawaii from Echo Park very recently. These days, I can't stop buying paper pads cuz they are so good!! I cut the two designs from the paper pad, attached to the postage stamp die cut outs, using Hero Art's die. I attached the bottom one first, and "postcard" one with the 1mm foam squares. I really love these 1mm foam squares. It's easy to use, and only a little dimention, which is great for mailing. Most of my cards are mailed out. I stamped "Happy birthday" (Waffle Flowers) on the "postcard". I used another paper from the same paper pad as the base. I'd been itching to use my new die set from Taylors Expressions. In the same set, there are small plumerias, too, so I used a couple of them, too. 

Inside, the sentiment is from Hero Arts, and the turtle is from Pink & Main. Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles (Honu) are another sea animal famous in Hawaii beside the Hawaiian Monk Seals. I wanted to send the "Hawaiian vibe" so I chose this turtle.

I still hear the severe weather from US mainland. The typhoon is still coming this way but the course is taking to rather north of the islands and it downgraded to tropical storm. Coffee card for the swap (July)

I had so much fun, making this card! I got this "cute" die set from last November's subscription. I wasn't sure how to use it but well, I made this card, using them for the first time! I'm very happy with the result! 

Beside the die set from Spellbinders, I used sentiment from Honey Bee stamps. I added some "coffee beans" on washi stickers which I had on hand.

Inside, I stamped Technique Tuesday's coffee mug image and the sentiment but not full sentiment. I masked the first line so that it goes better with the sentiment on the front of the card. Hope this card will bring a smile to the recipient as much as it did to me! 

I still hear the severe weather from many places. Hope you are all safe!

Happy Birthday! #2

My BFF's birthday is coming up and I made this card. I've known her since early 80s, and I decided to use this fun dies from Trinity Stamps which was released in April. This set really makes me remember Good Old Days in our lives. But, many of these great die sets are very intricate and the card becomes "labor intensive" and this was one of them. 😅Of course, you can make it simpler and can adjust in different ways which is also a lot of fun, but this one, I made it close to the "original" pac man (original release in 1980, 5 months after the release in Japan). I also chose to stamp "25c" from Newton's Nook Designs in the middle of two coin slots. That was actually the amount we inserted (a quarter) back then, and I wanted to emphasize that, instead of just hand writing on the coin slot buttons.

Inside, I really wanted to use this fun stamp from Riley and Company. When they released this stamp with big "80s", I HAD TO GET IT! 😄But, since this is the birthday card, so I had to adjust how to use it on this card. This is the result. 

I used some sentiment strips from Simon Says Stamps. I love these strips. They are easy to use! Nowadays, several companies make them. 

This is how much I love Pac-man. I'd like to brag here a little (!!) that I spent a quarter to play Space Invaders for 35 minutes before Pac man was released.😁I never forget that! Fun time! 😀

I made this card for the daughter of my BFF. She hasn't been around in US much after graduating college, and will be leaving for Italy for her 1st year in an American grad school. She was in Peace corp for two years and decided to go to grad school, and she got full scholarship! We are so proud of her, so when this Spellbinders die set was released back in March, I already knew I was going to use this one for her birthday card. She is "unstoppable"! 

I stamped the sentiment of Lawn Fawn on the top. The background building stamp is from Concord & 9th. A little hard to see but clouds are from Concord & 9th, too, die cutting vellum, and attached using Xyron. The hillside is made using My Favorite Thing's die, with stamping Hero Arts' grass stamp on the die cut out. The initial is for both her first name and "Superwoman"! It worked perfect!

Happy 250th, America!

I made these cards for 2 of my dearests. I bought this paper pad from Honey Bee Stamps when it was released 2 years ago. I often buy paper pads because they are so pretty but don't use them right away, but place them by my craft table and go through, just looking at them, time to time. That makes me smile and happy! lol. Anyways, I'm using these papers for the1st time! lol! They are so beautiful, and I didn't have to add too much. I used TH's number dies. I love these dies. I die cut once, and I get these 2 style of dies! How cool is that?!

I also stamped the sentiment from looong time ago (Stampendous!), year 2000 release!! It's a wood mounted "grey" rubber stamp but it surely lasts long! It stamped as brand new!!😀

I forgot to take a picture before writing to the recipients so I covered that up. This dark blue card stock I found in my stash has "white" inside, in case, some of you are wondering. It has slightly textured and probably from Michaels or Joann. I don't know who makes those papers, or even they make those card stock anymore.

Coffee card for the swap (June)

This is the easel card I made for the recipient. I already knew that I wanted to use this House Mouse stamp. I colored them first. I checked HM Monday challenge and they were doing "fancy fold", and I already knew this was the kind of card I wanted to make, BUT, time ran out.😓 Finally I got the time to finish the rest, the link was closed! LOL... but they usually do "anything goes", so I decided to finish and I am going to enter this card for the new challenge#467 ! 😊You might think..?? So, the recipient of this card was the sender for the last month's swap and she mentioned that her usual order had chocolate cookies with the coffee. So, I added those chocolate chip cookies by the sentiment! Hope she will like it! 

I added little shimmer on the steam from the cup, using Wink of Stella. The sentiment is from Lil'inker designs. Those chocolate chip cookies are from Queen&Co., and extra coffee beans are from Trinity Stamps.

"Iced" Coffee card for May swap

This is the card I made for May. I LOOOOOVE this Coffee Shop paper pad from Echo Park! 🥰All the papers for background and the printed sentiment are from the same pad! I used one of the "postage nesting die" to cut the sentiment. Glad it was the perfect size! I added MC/Ecru floss to finish the card. This "special" floss has a couple of threads of gold in the whole thread and looks nicer in person. 

The weather has cleared up much earlier than the weather forecast predicted. I'm not complaining, though! This Spring has been little harsh, even in this island of Oahu. Hope you are enjoying the spring with lots of flowers wherever you are! Thanks for stopping by my blog today! Love, Eve

Happy Mother's Day!

I made this card on Mother's day for my late mother. I like to spend time, thinking of her on Mother's day. 

I used Waffle Flower's "MOM" script dies on Lawn Fawn papers and vellum. Those sentiments are all from new Waffle Flower's stamp set, and attached with the "thin" foam. I stamped a couple of "butterflies" from the same set, since my mom loved butterflies. Have you ever used "Brilliance" inkpads? I love the color from my color swatch and used it. Well, they are really old and some went bad but 2/3 of the inkpads are still in good condition, without even reinking! So... probably this color inkpad is 25? years old.... I used mini slim stitched nesting dies from Trinity Stamps.

This is the card I made for my godmother, for her 80th birthday!! I do hope she will have many more birthdays! 

So, for 80th birthday, color "Gold" signifies, so I placed some "gold" colored elements on the card. 

I'm not sure about you guys but my case, I sometimes get stuck at least once while I make a card. I had totally different design but when I was looking for a perfect element for other elements I already made, I found a 3D embossed background paper in my stash. When I receive a new product, I often try it out and keep them in a stash, and that was this one. Then, I could imagine the whole card, using the background (although, I decided to change the color and embossed it to make a new background) and this is the end result. The fan & bow are also from Spellbinder. The sentiment is from Lawn Fawn. I wanted to "curve" the sentiment along the fan instead of just placing it to the top, straight. Like most of us wants to use "birthday" elements on the card but since I've been making her birthday cards more than 30 years, I decided to use something which is not a cake, birthday candles, etc. I did find the sentiment, googling, and did write that in gold inside.

I'm happy that I finished the card for the occasion on timely manner! 😉I already mailed it! yay!

This is for my godmother. 

I used SB's April issued dies. That is also "timely"! I usually don't get to use the ones I purchase, til, like a year later...😅My godmother loves flowers a lot! I used the dies as it was originally designed, although I first thought to "wrap" the flowers like a bouquet instead of potted flowers...oh well...I used SB's older frame die on the textured card stock and added the sentiment from new WF's stamp set. I embellished some to finish this card. The hardest thing to make this card for me was that there were too many choices for colors to choose!

Happy 30th Anniversary!

I made this card for my BFF from college. She & her husband is celebrating their 30th anniversary! 

I used Spellbinder's "Better Together" die set and customized it for 30th anniversary, which is also called "Pearl Anniversary", so I placed some little pearls on female owl's head instead of the wreath with tiny flowers on their design sheet. Those are tiny stickers. So are the heart ones. I also used other regular heart shaped stickers to attach on the front of the card. I had the stickers of large numbers in glittery brown and used the 3 and 0 to make it 30. The background papers (light brown and dark brown) are from lawn fawn card stock, which is already embossed with growth rings, so I used those. The sentiment is from SimonSaysStamp's printed sheet.

Coffee swap card for April

The recipient of the card in the group is someone I've chatted recently cuz of her birthday a week ago. From our conversation, I made this card. 

I had the sheet of "washi" stickers of cherry blossoms from last spring but never had used. For this card, I used 2/3 of it, and it made me happy! You, all card makers would understand the feeling! lol The stickers had gold lines, like 'foiling', so I heat embossed the sentiment and tea cups in similar gold color powder. I also found the glittered alphabets stickers in light green in my stash and used them for spelling the word "SPRING". "I poured tea and green tea" in the cups. 😊I used the woodgrain card stock and background sky-like paper from Lawn Fawn. 

Hawaii is having a bad weather. You've probably heard about Kona Low, two weekends last month, and we had a "break" on Easter weekend but again, we had bad weather. But yesterday, we had a day break with a bit of sunshine!

Yes, I DO love St. Patty's day and Four-leaf clovers. I have a fond memory with my mom, looking for a four-leaf clover from the clover patch in her garden when I was a child. 💕 I made this card for my BFF. 

I used the same "girl" (Whimsy Stamps die set). For the sentiment, I used Waffle Flower stamp. The four-leaf dies are from Lawn Fawn. Making these cards makes me "happy" & "feel calm' in this chaotic world...

I got this Girl die set from Whimsy Stamps and wanted to use it. First I made this card.

I dressed her up using the papers from Echo park. I let her hold "Irish coffee" in her hand for "good luck", I guess. lol That dies are from Newton's Nook Designs. I used "stickers" for "Irish coffee" word. The background is the stencil from Simon Says Stamps.

Get well soon!

Unfortunately everybody gets old, and starts to injure themselves from falls... that happened to my godmother. In my whole life, I hardly made any "get well" card because by the time I mail them, they get better, due to the "long distance" mailing, most of the time...But, just in case, I have this House Mouse stamp, but never have used it before! As soon as she emailed me, I had time to make this card and mailed it. She was in the hospital for a week after the surgery, and she received it upon her release from the hospital. It's nothing fancy, esp. I made it in a couple of hours, mailed it asap. Very simple card but thanks to cute & warm House Mouse designs. It does the trick! 

I know many of us & our families and friends are all getting old... I might start to make some more get well soon cards.

UPDATES: I just joined in the House Mouse Challenge with this card. I never meant to enter it but one of my very long time "mousie" friend suggested me💕. When I make a card for a challenge, I take more time and even if it gets a little bulky, I put more embellishments and layers but this one, I had to mail it ASAP, after getting a text from my godmother, and I didn't want it to get stuck on its way or get "destroyed" in the "USPS machines" , and made it rather flat. I even used Sheer organza ribbon for the knot to be rather flat. But as I mentioned in my comment, these mousies do the trick, every time💕 My god mother texted me that she was released from the hospital and received my card which made her happy. She's been a big fan of my handmade cards for decades! 

Updates 2: So, I became the very lucky winner of this challenge, which I was suggested by a long time card making friend, to participate. I received these three ink pads from Simon Says Stamp! Woohoo! Mahalo for the prize. I feel really lucky all the way around! 😊

I made this card for my BFF from college. I love these cute mice from Lawn Fawn. I think most of the things I used on this card are from Lawn Fawn, which is kinda unusual for me. I love the sentiment of "GAlentine's day" :) Once again I used the cord from Simon Says Stamps, which I used for my last Valentine's day card.

This is the card for my godmother. I often make her a card which has "fox" in its design because she used to live at the address which has "fox" in it! lol🦊 I love these vertical sentiments from Pretty Pink Posh. I made the background, using Lawn Fawn's heart stencil on their own designer's paper. I love making background, using designer's paper, and stencil on it! The background was kinda bland so I used Simon Says Stamps' cord which I recently bought. First time to use it.

Coffee card for February swap

You probably find the similarity in this card from the last one. I love these dies so much, and I had to make another card before winter ended, and with "GAlentine's day" greeting!

I used Lawn fawn papers for both sleeves and the background. For background paper, I also used Lawn Fawn's heart stencil. For gloves and the sentiment, I inked up the white card stock with Altenew ink, and die cut them. I wanted to used the perfect size for heart latte art. I found one from one of Honey Bee's die sets. I love the shape of this particular heart (and size), similar to the background stenciled hearts. The sentiment is also from Lawn Fawn. Hmmm...looking at this picture, I probably should have added the "steam" above the coffee... well, this card was already sent out yesterday...😓

Inside, I stamped one of Honey Bees' sentiments.

Coffee card for January 2026 swap

I got this new Spellbinders dies from BF sale. In fact, last year, there were similar dies released, and I chose this one. 

I used the sentiment from Echo Park, and those mini marshmallows are dies from The Greetery. From December to February, I often make hot chocolate/cocoa cards for the group which is allowed in this group. I used the vellum for the steam. I used the stencil from Papertrey ink. I used Spellbinders frame dies for some interest around the card stock.
